The city has a founding circuit, defined between the streets Cirujano Videla, Almagro, Amunategui and Justo Donoso, declared a typical and picturesque area by the Ministry of Education. This typical area shows the traveler its heritage architecture, from the neoclásico serenense to the Art Nouveau style, in the old residences of the founding families, and institutional buildings that show the maximum splendor of the Serena Plan, promoted by President Gabriel Gonzales Videla.

Gastronomic
The city offers many restaurants that range from the traditional cuisine of the area, through different fusions and signature cuisine, to ethnic food.

Hiking
The region has at least 2 known sectors of bird watching and hiking in the Monardez creek and in the coastal wetlands of Coquimbo, declared the capital of coastal wetland birds. In the sector “Quebrada El Culebrón” for example, 130 species of registered birds can be observed.

Elqui Valley
Famous for being a meeting point for lovers of astronomy, the Elqui Valley also offers visits to historic places, such as Gabriela Mistral’s house. The valley has a wide range of producers of wines and pisco, whose factories can be visited.

Beach day
The region has 56 kilometers of beaches, which are characterized by their quiet bays. In them you can find coves of fishermen who offer their products both raw and prepared in kitchens and restaurants.
